So lets get this out of the way first \u2014 Sweet Potatoes are not the same thing as Yams. \u00a0In fact, they\u2019re from two entirely different plant families. \u00a0And as opposed to sweet potatoes, yams are dry, highly starchy and have white-colored flesh. They\u2019re also usually larger than sweet potatoes, weighing in at three to eight pounds each. \u00a0But if you insist on continuing to refer to that classic Thanksgiving dish as \u201ccandied yams,\u201d well, who are we to argue?<\/p>\n
